{birthday wishes}

i look at this picture and i wish i knew the girl there.
i wish i could ask her about her hopes and dreams ~
what she is scared of.
who she wants to be.

i look at this picture and i wish i could ask you now,
when you look at the girl in the picture,
who do you see?
really see.
do you recognise the face looking at back at you?
do you remember how you felt back then,
when life was full of adventure and promise?

what would you say to her today?
what do you think she would say to you?

i look at this picture and i wish we could be friends.
i wish we could be vulnerable and truthful with each other.
share ~
openly. honestly.
i wish you could tell me now,
what you wish you could tell her then.

i look at this picture and i am reminded this is you.
once young and full of hope,
and how these days of old age and disability hurt you deep and hard.
i wish i could help ease your sadness,
and sit with you in your pain.
i wish i could tell you how proud i am of you,
and the life you have lived.

i look at this picture and i think you are beautiful.
and i wish i can find the courage,
to tell you all that i feel.
i wish this wall of awkwardness between us would crumble,
and we can roam freely in each others hearts.

but until then i shall whisper it in wind,
and hope that in the silences between us,
they find a way to you.

happy birthday
xo

so beautiful ... so honest ...

I am sitting here, sick with a cold and no voice, and my husband is a thousand miles away helping my 84 year old mother pack up her home in preparation to move out near us. I am very anxious about what the coming months will bring. This reminds me to stay honest, stay protected, stay open to whatever may, and may not, occur.

Thank you ♥ Love, Lis
